Submissions Are Now Being Accepted for the 2015 CineMayhem Film Fest

Hey Everyone!

It's been a few months but now that the Halloween season is behind us, we're beginning to look forward towards 2015 and planning for next year's CineMayhem Film Fest which will be held in the month of April in the Los Angeles area.

And as we continue to iron out details for next year's fest, we are pleased to announce that we will be going back towards our original programming vision of being able to celebrate both classic and contemporary independent horror and sci-fi films for CineMayhem 2015 once again which means we would love to hear from all you indie filmmakers out there who have new projects they'd like to showcase in the near future.

For those interested, you can download a submission form HERE and all entry fees can be processed through the PayPal section on the right side of this page as well.

CineMayhem 2014 Presents: Clive Barker's HELLRAISER with Surprise Guest Doug Bradley

For our final evening of CineMayhem 2014, those in attendance were treated to a surprise visit from none other than HELLRAISER star and horror icon, Doug Bradley who dropped by the Jumpcut Cafe in Studio City to introduce Clive Barker's visionary feature film debut and discuss his experiences in the world of Pinhead over the last few decades now.

Doug was incredibly gracious with his time and spent a good deal of time chatting about growing up with Clive, his early career and the path to playing Pinhead in the original HELLRAISER, how the character and his story has evolved throughout the franchise and so much more.

CineMayhem 2014 Presents: VAMP Cast & Crew Reunion Q&A Featuring Robert Rusler, Richard Wenk & DeDee Pfeiffer

On Saturday, March 30th, CineMayhem Film Fest celebrated the criminally underrated horror comedy VAMP which premiered in theaters the summer of 1986. Co-written and directed by Richard Wenk (The Expendables, The Mechanic), VAMP starred Chris Makepeace, Robert Rusler, Gedde Watanabe, Sandy Baron and the otherworldly Grace Jones.

For CineMayhem's VAMP screening, we had planned for our special guest Rusler to join us for a pre-screening Q&A; little did we know he was going to bring along a few friends- the aforementioned Wenk, Pfeiffer and co-writer/producer Donald P. Borchers- for an incredible reunion Q&A event.

CineMayhem 2014 Presents: John Carpenter & THE FOG Video Highlights

Last Friday, CineMayhem Film Fest 2014 kicked off at Jumpcut Cafe with an incredible discussion of the 1980 classic horror film THE FOG with none other than co-writer/director John Carpenter. For those of you who were unable to join us for the festivities, we've put together video highlights from the Q&A panel below.

To say that the second annual CineMayhem Film Fest was incredible would be something of an understatement. We had three nights of highly entertaining and truly engaging Q&A's, surprise guests, five fantastic short films by several up-and-coming independent filmmakers and hordes of horror fans coming together to celebrate everything that makes our beloved genre so great.

On Friday evening, iconic filmmaker John Carpenter and producer Sandy King Carpenter came out to Jumpcut Cafe in Studio City and joined us for a very special chat about THE FOG and much more. CineMayhem Film Fest celebrated the cult classic VAMP on Saturday night with actor Robert Rusler (Weird Science, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge) in attendance. Rusler also brought along a few VAMP friends with him including director Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2, The Mechanic), producer Donald P. Borchers (Children of the Corn, The Beastmaster) and the one and only DeDee Pfeiffer (The Horror Show, Falling Down).

CineMayhem concluded on Sunday evening with a surprise visit by none other than Doug Bradley who popped into Jumpcut for a quick Q&A discussion before our final fest screening of HELLRAISER. We were also very fortunate to have had the opportunity to showcase the Moontribe portrait series by none other than Master of Horror Clive Barker.

(March 20, 2014)—With the opening night celebration of CineMayhem Film Fest just eight days away, we’re pleased to reveal a special poster gallery celebrating the classic film selections for its second year including THE FOG (1980), VAMP (1986) and HELLRAISER (1987) which were designed by Chelsea Patterson of Cutestreak Designs.

Created in 2013 by producer and horror journalist Heather Wixson, CineMayhem Film Fest celebrates the legacy of independent horror and the films that have- and continue to- change the landscape of genre cinema. For its second year, CineMayhem Film Fest is breaking tradition in order to create a truly unique experience for indie horror fans at its new location, Jumpcut Café (13203 Ventura Blvd. in Studio City, CA) by expanding its celebration of independent horror to three days, beginning on Friday, March 28^th and running through Sunday, March 30^th and offering passes to each CineMayhem 2014 event at NO CHARGE. 

CineMayhem Film Fest will kick-off on March 28^th with a special screening of John Carpenter’s THE FOG with the Master of Horror himself in attendance that evening for a very intimate Q&A to start the evening’s festivities. Also screening that Friday evening before THE FOG is UK filmmaker Paul Davis’ latest short film THE BODY which has received rave reviews from festivals worldwide. CineMayhem will also have some special giveaways that evening courtesy of Scream Factory including posters and Blu-ray copies of THE FOG.

On Saturday, March 29^th, CineMayhem will be hosting New World Pictures’ cult comedy classic VAMP with the film’s co-star Robert Rusler (A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge, Weird Science, Sometimes They Come Back) in attendance for a special Q&A; the short film selection for Saturday evening includes Rebekah McKendry’s FOUND and MIRACLE ON METAL STREET by Carl Bachmann.

The Body

Starring Alfie Allen, Hannah Tointon, Jack Gordon and Christian Brassington

The film stars Alfie Allen (GAME OF THRONES), Hannah Tointon (THE INBETWEENERS), Jack Gordon (PANIC BUTTON) and Christian Brassington (BURKE & HARE) and tells the tale of a murderer (Allen) who uses the cover of Halloween night to causally transport his latest victim from the scene of the crime to his final resting place. Wrapping the body in tarpaulin and dragging it through the busy streets of London as a bloody Halloween prop, all goes to plan until an old school mate (Brassington) recognises the murderer and drags him along to a swanky Halloween party nearby, where a chance meeting with a beautiful girl (Tointon) takes his evening on an even bigger turn for the bizarre!

THE BODY is the second short film by Writer/Director Paul Davis (HIM INDOORS/BEWARE THE MOON) and is Co-Written and Produced by Paul Fischer (RADIOMAN) for Ten Cent Adventures.

Miracle on Metal Street

George is a timid freelance artist that has been hired by a famous heavy metal band: REBORTION. Plagued by artist’s block, George falls behind deadline and the band’s daunting front man, Gary, threatens to beat George to a bloody pulp. (February 21, 2014)—Today, the second annual CineMayhem Film Fest reveals its all-retro line-up for this year’s festival that features a special screening of THE FOG (1980) with legendary Master of Horror John Carpenter in attendance for an intimate Q&A with fans. CineMayhem will also pay homage to several other classic indie horror films with a rare screening of the horror comedy VAMP (1986) and a night celebrating HELLRAISER (1987) and the artwork of genre visionary, Clive Barker.

Several pieces of Barker’s art will be on display during CineMayhem and each night will include screenings of several great short horror films before each classic film as well including FOUND, the latest short from Rebekah McKendry, filmmaker and Director of Marketing for FANGORIA ENTERTAINMENT, starring Darren Lynn Bousman, AJ Bowen, and Morgan Peter Brown.

Updates on the 2014 CineMayhem Film Fest- New Venue, New Days, New Format, FREE ADMISSION

Hi Everyone,

CineMayhem Film Fest Founder, Heather Wixson, here. It's been a crazy few months for me- both professionally and personally- but thankfully a few things are finally falling into place, including details for CineMayhem 2014.

Just a few weeks ago, I found out that we would no longer have access to the same venue we had for the 2013 CineMayhem Film Fest due to management and theater booking policy changes. It was indeed very sad, and admittedly a bit stressful learning about the changes so late in the game, but I was thankful to have had such a wonderful home for CineMayhem for its very first year and was now looking for an equally awesome home for the fest that would be inviting to film lovers by still give people a place to eat and hang out without feeling like they're just being shuffled in and out of movies like cinematic cattle.

All that being said, I'm beyond thrilled to announce that CineMayhem Film Fest will be held this year at the Jumpcut Cafe in Studio City, California (13203 Ventura Blvd.) on March 28th through the 30th (several weeks after our initially announced festival dates). Elric Kane and the good folks at Jumpcut have fostered a great atmosphere for film fans since they opened their doors and I couldn't be happier to be working with them for this year's festival. Also, because of our partnership with Jumpcut, I'm able to make the 2014 CineMayhem Film Fest a FREE EVENT. We will NOT be selling tickets for CineMayhem at all, entry will be on a first-come, first serve basis so you'll definitely want to get there early.

Because of the dates being pushed back, we will also be in contact with selected filmmakers for the 2014 CineMayhem Film Fest no later than Friday, January 31st so if you've submitted, you'll be hearing from us shortly either way.

I'm incredibly grateful to be bringing CineMayhem back for another year and am equally excited about working with Jumpcut Cafe to bring everyone some truly unique and different films and events this year.
